Drama in the Classroom

Spell it right…Make it right

Spelling is very important in our writing, right? No? You mean as long as people can understand the gist of your stuff, then its ok? It's fine with me as long as it don’t bother you or the person who’s reading your gibberish. Why not gibberish? If I wanted to pen down angel but I put down angle that means I’m no angel here in confusing others. Some students change the words meant for various reasons:-

a) copied wrongly (careless git!)

b) short-sighted (need better lenses)

c) don’t know how to spell the word (hope not this category)

d) want to make a difference (hope it’s this category – means they’re improving)

Whatever the reasons, the main thing is not to confuse anybody even yourself. Here are some of the commonly misspelt words:-

Play/pray

For/four

Tail/tale

Far/for

Mail/mall

Meet/meat

Kid/kit

Miss/mess

Scare/scarce

All/ail

Beg/bag
