Drama in the Classroom

SCHOOL TRIP

There was an incident which stood out clearly in A few colleagues and I went on a trip with a busload of students. One of the designated places was Genting Highlands. We actually reached the foot of the hill at night. (Hands up those who are afraid of heights!) Needless to say, it was quite some time before we got to board the cable cars. A student was pretty fidgety and kept on rushing around. He kept on saying, “Oh dear, oh dear, I need to go to the loo but I’m afraid of missing the cable car.” His teacher advised him to get to the loo first but he refused. He kept on flapping around till he reminded me of a chicken squawking. He nearly didn’t go (to the toilet) till his teacher (the same one) warned him to do so as the ride could be pretty time consuming. It was a good thing that he finally listened to his teacher.

Coincidentally, he and a student together with his teacher and I happened to share the same cable car. It was dark and we could scarcely see anything apart from the spotlights. (It was a good thing too as I couldn’t see anything way below us.) He suddenly said that it luckily he went to take a leak otherwise he would be too frightened not to do so at that time.

Note: It’s funny what heights can do to people.
